Layer 7 DDoS and origin fallback model
Availability is a product feature. Help4 Net is designed to keep pages loading during noisy traffic, bad bot surges, and partial POP instability.
Primary controls
- Request shaping and rate limits to absorb repetitive Layer 7 request floods.
- WAF policy filtering for abusive patterns before origin saturation.
- Health-aware routing so degraded POPs are removed from active delivery paths.
Fallback behavior
- If an edge path degrades, delivery can fall back to healthy routes or origin-safe paths.
- Cache miss and error handling are tuned to avoid dead-end 4xx/5xx loops.
- Plugin mode keeps WordPress origin URLs available when edge constraints are hit.
Operational objective
Reduce impact window, preserve site availability, and provide clear status visibility while mitigation is active. Continuous telemetry feeds post-incident tuning.
Large volumetric network-layer attacks still depend on upstream and provider-layer controls. Edge application defenses are one critical layer of the full stack.
